AT&T vs. T-Mobile Coverage Map

Coverage Comparison

This map makes head-to-head comparisons of cell coverage from AT&T and T-Mobile. Search for a place or zoom in to see which carrier comes out ahead where you live or travel.

Three view modes are available:

  • Difference: Shades each hex in favor of the carrier with better coverage. Richer colors indicate bigger advantages.
  • Winner: Colors each hex according to which carrier comes out ahead. Ties and close calls are shown in gray. Unlike in the Difference view, shading is not used to show the magnitude of signal differences.
  • Overlay: Highlights areas covered by only one of the two carriers. Areas both networks cover appear in gray.

The technology filter can be used to switch between displaying combined 4G + 5G coverage, 4G coverage only, or 5G coverage only. Select any hex on the map for details about a specific area.

Data Sources

Coverage data comes primarily from the FCC's Broadband Data Collection program. The current data was released in November 2025 and reflects networks as of June 2025. New FCC data arrives roughly every six months. The FCC data is supplemented and adjusted with crowdsourced, on-the-ground measurements from DIMO and Roam.

Limitations

  • The map shows native, non-roaming coverage. Many plans include substantial roaming coverage.
  • Predicted outdoor signal strength is shown. Signals are usually weaker indoors.
  • Networks are inconsistent in how they report coverage over bodies of water, which can create spurious differences.
